Bio

Jon Vernon is a newly retired family dentist living in Indianola, Iowa. Jon is married to Margaret and they have two adult sons, Andrew and Michael.

Jon has been a serious photographer for more than 30 years. His first interest was intra-oral dental pictures. This easily expanded into macro photography of the outdoors with close-ups of flowers and compositional still-life. His love for outdoor scenics flourished with annual vacations with family. Numerous hikes and some backpacking in the mountains, primarily in Colorado and Wyoming, have led to a number of photographs available for purchase at this site. The intent has been to display a variety of photographs that viewers may find interesting or stimulating including the European collection.

Jon has used Canon equipment with a variety of lenses, filters and films Most recently, he has been using a digital Panasonic FZ50. Four of his photographs have been displayed in the gallery of the Iowa State Fair with two Honorable Mention awards. Jon also has a number of his photographs displayed in his hometown of Corning, Iowa, in the the Corning Art Center.
